Hello and welcome

If you’re reading this you might be looking for a safe space to feel heard and understood. Somewhere you can explore your thoughts and feelings, a place to re-group and find your confidence again.

Please take a look at my website and see if you think might work well together.

About me

I’m Jay and I’d love to help.

I’m an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. An integrative model allows for a flexible, informed approach, placing your unique experiences at the centre of our sessions.

Whether you’re encountering challenges, struggling with anxiety and depression, experiencing symptoms of grief, have suffered trauma or if you’re facing a time of significant change, you don’t have to work things out alone. I’m here to provide a safe and confidential space, to listen to you and to support you, giving you the chance to take a breath, recover your balance and see a way forward.

Some things that I can help with……

Recovery from trauma

Do you have intrusive negative thoughts or memories about the trauma you’ve experienced? Do you have difficulty concentrating or sleeping? Do you feel emotionally numb, detached from what’s going on in your life? Do you have angry outbursts?

Living with trauma can be incredibly distressing and can significantly diminish your quality of life.

You don’t have to cope alone. You can find a place of safety, support and calm. You will have the opportunity to explore your feelings and responses at your own pace. I can provide you with resources to help you replenish and care for yourself.

Anxiety and depression

Are you worried all the time? Are you restless and easily irritated? Do you have difficulty sleeping? Does your heart pound so hard you think others might be able to hear it?

It can feel as though you’re swimming against the tide just getting through your day when you are managing not only your thoughts and feelings but the physiological effects of anxiety or depression. You might be going to some lengths to show the world that you’re just fine. It’s hard to do this every day, it can feel exhausting.

You can find the help you want, a space where you can feel heard and understood. You can learn skills that will help you to calm yourself. Together we can learn about what’s really going on for you to allow for healing to begin.

Grief and loss through adoption

I’ve been part of a supportive adoption charity for 10 years providing speakers who share their expertise with adoptive parents. Through this experience I have been privileged to learn through first parents, adoptees, and experts in the field about the challenges faced by all concerned with any adoption. Adoption is borne of loss. The loss of the child for the first birth parent, the loss of the birth family for the adopted child and the loss of an opportunity to get to know your child as it grows within or an imagined family life for the adoptive parents. Such loss has repercussions and can bring up huge feelings which can seem overwhelming and unmanageable.

You don’t have to explore these feelings alone. It can be a relief to share your journey, to have someone alongside you, to help, to support, to listen and to understand.
